The cave was discovered not long ago, in 1959 after an explosion in the gypsum quarry in the Criva.
This cave is one of the biggest labyrinth caves in Europe.

It is over 90 km long! Moreover, the explored part of the cave is a small fragment of the giant labyrinth's drained part. According to the forecasts, the cave system's total length may be over several hundreds kilometrers.
The cave is situated in the north of the country near Criva village in the Briciani district (240 km north of Chişinău, the capital of Moldova).
